WGF making movies WOODVILLE GENERAL FILMS

In March of 2006, three filmmakers met to discuss the notion of taking their creative destinies into their own hands. After numerous years serving various capacities within the entertainment industry, the trio had amassed a great understanding of the business and political aspects of "Hollywood". But what they sought on this warm spring afternoon was far greater. As the meeting adjourned and the three shook hands, a new force in the filmmaking world had been born: Woodville General Films.

Led by partners Tony West, Mark Riley, and Chris Rice - Woodville General Films has amassed a team of award-winning filmmakers that share a common love for the magic of filmmaking. Inspired by the movies of their youth, the trio sought to develop and produce the types of films that would inspire a new generation of audiences around the world.

The name Woodville General Films found its inspiration in tiny Woodville, Florida, where Mark Riley's family ran the 'Woodville General Store' and a chain of video stores called 'WGS Video'. It was rental houses like this one where the three partners spent their childhoods, feasting on a diet of Hitchcockian-Thrillers, Epic Dramas, Screwball Comedies, and Summer Blockbusters. The influence of these films generated a strong sense of story within the partners, and a common understanding that films should not only be thought-provoking, but entertaining and enjoyable as well.

It was under that pretense that Woodville General Films began its first production, the short film Dartsville - a comedy centering on a young dart prodigy who must overcome his ruthlessly jealous farther to achieve his ultimate goal; winning the Dartsville County Darts Championship.

Completed in March of 2007, the film has been a tremendous success. Having just begun its rounds on the festival circuit, the film has been accepted to dozens of film festivals around the country and has won the top overall award (Best Short Film) at the first six festivals it's screened at.

Never resting on its successes, Woodville General Films has already begun production on its next two projects: the magical short film Skylight, and the animated television pilot The Adventures of Canuck Chuck and the Eager Beaver.

Once these two projects are completed, Woodville General Films will embark on its ultimate purpose: WGF on set developing and producing feature films and television series that embody the company's ideology of challenging the audience's minds while entertaining their hearts. With six feature films and two television series currently in development, Woodville General Films is well on its way to bringing those goals to realization.

It is this very work-ethic which encompasses the business model the company bases their entire operation upon: that success is not merely the product of inspiration, but of perspiration as well.
