Tony West began honing his directing skills at the film programs of the University of Miami and New York University before finally graduating from Florida State University's top-ranked film school. In all, he has directed over 20 short films garnering countless festival appearances and over thirty international awards.
His first taste of success came in 2003 when two of his short films, The Return and Seven Minutes on Sunday were accepted into dozens of film festivals across the nation, highlighted by acceptances into the Toronto Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. That same year he wrote and directed the $10,000 grand-prize winning entry in Pioneer Electronics' inaugural "48 hour" international filmmaking competition which pitted the top film schools around the world against each other.
In the summer of 2004 he beat out thousands of other entrants to become one of the ten directing finalists for the 3rd season of Project Greenlight.
In March of 2006 he joined with fellow partners Chris Rice and Mark Riley to form 'Woodville General Films'. Tony directed the company's first production, the comedy short Dartsville, which to date has won the top award (Best Short Film) at the first six festivals where it's screened, as well as earning Tony two prestigious "Best Director" awards.
Tony is currently at the helm of Woodville General Film's next two productions, the short film Skylight, and the animated television-pilot The Adventures of Canuck Chuck and the Eager Beaver, serving as director and producer for both projects. With these two projects slated for completion in early 2008, Tony will then set his sites on one of the six features currently in development at Woodville General Films, which includes the feature-length version of the award winning Dartsville.
Tony is currently engaged to his college sweetheart Nikki, with plans for an August 2008 wedding. He is also the proud father of his eight-year-old son, Cadin.
